I guess Elena and Anton skated OK in short program, but because
they're normally so fluid and fast across the ice, this performance
seemed sub-par. There were two major errors-Anton touched his hand
down on the ice on the triple toe loop, and Elena fell on her triple
toe loop. They were skating slower than usual and looked kind of
cautious. Elena and Anton ended up in second place behind Jenni Meno
and Todd Sand.

In the long program, they looked more free and
open. Much better than the short. They performed a
lift I don't think I've seen before. Elena kind of
kneeled on Anton's arms. Here is a picture of it
from CBS Sportsline. There was only one mistake,
Elena popped her double axel into a single. Also,
not surprisingly, they ommitted the lift at the end
that they fell on in Nagano. This competition
marked the end of a long season, and Elena and
Anton were very pleased. They managed to finish
ninth at Worlds one year and take the gold the next!
